lounging

There is something to me, about being able to pamper myself from time to time. It's a seldom occurring event, with all the penny pinching my husband and I have to do nowadays. It's a whole hour when I can get away from reality and just be with my thoughts. Recently, I was able to "getaway" to a salon called The Lounge tucked away on one of my favorite streets in Berkeley. I stumbled upon it while strolling on 4th one day and decided to make an appointment to get my toes all gussied up.

The Lounge logo is a silhouette of a chandelier, which I instantly fell in love with and was drawn to because let's face it, I am a sucker for all things beautiful, chandeliers being one of them. The inside of the salon is very airy and spacious with high ceilings and simple, modernly elegant decor. The logo is translated in the salon with huge black lacquer chandeliers for lighting and even bigger silver silhouette on one wall of the salon. The staff is serious, but friendly and the salon itself is quite clean. They have amazing massage chairs to sit in when getting your pedicure. The music of Billie Holiday filling the space seemed to be played off of an old vitrola, which is something I would have loved, but not likely. They have countless nail colors from O.P.I and a few types of pedicure soaks to choose from which I opted for their "Ice Cream Pedicure." I can only say that my little piggies and I had an indulgent, sorbet filled, relaxing time!
